The public administrations, attentive to the 5G

Spanish public administrations will attend the full 5GForum in Malaga on 25th and 26th April

The public administrations, which are going to play a fundamental role in the deployment and multiple applications of 5G, will be represented at all levels at the 5GForum in Malaga, which will be held at the Digital Content Hub in the capital of the Costa del Sol on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 April.

The 5GForum in Malaga is the first multidisciplinary event on the 5G that is organized in Spain, to highlight what is being done in relation to this new technology.

During two days, first level experts will share with the attendees their experiences in fields such as Tourism, Connected Mobility, Gaming, Entertainment, Health, Emergencies, Artificial Intelligence or the Internet of Things (IoT), among others.

The Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda will be doubly represented at the 5GForum in Malaga.

The general director of Red.es, José Manuel Leceta, will participate in the inaugural session on Wednesday 25 April at the Auditorium of the Digital Content Pole.

In addition, Pedro Alonso, advisor to the Ministry, will explain in detail the situation regarding the plans for the deployment of the 5G in Spain, very few weeks before the Government of Spain has to present its final plan to the European Commission on 30 June.

The Regional Government of Andalusia will also have a double institutional and operational representation at the 5GForum, an event sponsored by large technology companies such as Samsung, Nokia, Axión, Cellnex, Hispasat, RTVE and others.

The Minister of Employment, Enterprise and Trade of the Junta de Andalucía, Javier Carnero, will also be at the opening session of the 5GForum along with state, provincial and local authorities.

In addition, the general director of Telecommunications and Digital Agenda of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Manuel Ortigosa, will participate in a round table on “smart cities”, which will give way to the presentation to be given by Javier Gutiérrez Álvaro, the top 5G expert at Telefónica.

On the part of the local administration, the Malaga City Council will be represented at the highest level, with Mayor Francisco de la Torre, a fervent defender of the advantages of new technologies for citizens.

For his part, the deputy mayor and councillor for New Technologies of Malaga, Mario Cortés, will also participate in the round table on “smart cities”.

Mario Cortés is the current Dean of the Official College of Telecommunications Graduates and Technical Engineers of Spain and several members of his team will also be present at the 5GForum, which will also be attended by speakers from Telefónica, Vodafone, Ericsson, SEAT, RTVE, OnMobile, etc.

The city councils of Seville and Marbella will also participate in the 5GForum. Seville will explain its recent experience in the application of New Technologies to the mass tourism movement that took place during last Easter. For its part, Marbella will share its projects as one of the “smart cities” more tourist of Spain.

In addition, Fernando de Pablo, president of the Sociedad Estatal para la Gestión de la Innovación y las Nuevas Tecnologías Turísticas (SEGITTUR), an agency of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, will also participate in the 5GForum.

The public company for the management of Tourism and Sport in Andalusia, dependent on the Regional Government of Andalusia, will also share with those attending the 5GForum their projects to apply Big Data to a territory that each year receives 52.4 million overnight stays per year.

To complete the presence of the public administrations in the 5GForum, the Diputación de Málaga will also be present. Representing the 103 municipalities in the province of Malaga, the provincial deputy responsible for the gastronomic brand “Sabor a Málaga”, Jacobo Florido, will invite the 250 people attending the 5GForum to an exclusive tasting of Malaga products.

The block of lectures and round tables on tourism in the 5GForum is sponsored by the Swiss institution Les Roches, chaired by Carlos Díez de la Lastra, which manages one of the 3 best private universities in the world in the field of hotel management.

In addition, in the agenda of the 5GForum are announced conferences of entities such as 5GAmericas (from Rio de Janeiro) and universities such as the Polytechnic of Madrid, the Polytechnic of Valencia and Malaga (UMA).

The CEO of the Andalusian Agency for Foreign Promotion (Extenda), Vanessa Bernad, will participate in the 5GForum by videoconference from Miami, where she will participate in eMerge Americas 2018, one of the main technological events in the United States.
