The 5G Forum 2026 will make Seville one of the major international hubs for advanced connectivity, with a high-level programme featuring 85 speakers, 37 sponsors and 46 organisations from Europe, Asia and the Americas, making up a total of over 80 participating entities. The in-person sessions, to be held on 12 and 13 May in the Andalusian capital, will bring together leading companies, public institutions, universities and technology experts to analyse the present and future of 5G and its impact on areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and critical services.

Established as the leading multidisciplinary event in Spain focused on the real-world applications of 5G, the forum will offer a cross-cutting view of the entire digital ecosystem, covering everything from network deployment and the evolution towards 6G to technologies such as the IoT, edge computing, satellite connectivity and digital health. The event will demonstrate how 5G is transforming strategic sectors such as smart cities, connected mobility, industry, emergency services and smart tourism.

The 5G Forum 2026 will address some of the big questions already affecting the lives of citizens, businesses and institutions today: Can someone access our mobile phones or steal our data without us realising? How do the new 5G networks affect the security of critical infrastructure such as hospitals, airports and transport? What real risks exist today in connected cars, smart cities or IoT devices? What actually happens to the data generated by our mobiles and connected devices? The forum will also analyse key issues regarding the future of connectivity, such as whether we are entering a new era of smart infrastructure, which technologies will shape the next digital decade, how AI, 5G, edge computing and satellite technology will coexist in the new technological ecosystem, and what consequences hyperconnectivity will have on our daily lives.

The 5G Forum will have a strong international dimension and will bring together the main operators with a presence in Spain — Orange, Telefónica, Vodafone and DIGI — alongside leading technology companies such as Huawei, Nokia, Netmetrix, Minsait by Indra Group, Cellnex, Hispasat and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Furthermore, the event will include business and institutional representatives from numerous national and international territories, reinforcing its role as a strategic meeting point where technology, industry, research and public administrations converge.

The ninth edition of the 5G Forum will combine two in-person sessions on 12 and 13 May at the Cartuja Auditorium — managed by Yventu — at Sevilla TechPark, with two virtual sessions on 14 and 15 May. Over the course of four days, the forum will bring together key players from the digital ecosystem to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the new generation of connectivity.

Cybersecurity, private networks and real-world use cases

One of the event’s key themes will be cybersecurity applied to 5G networks and critical infrastructure, with the participation of organisations such as the National Cryptology Centre (CCN) and companies including Huawei, Italtel, Netmetrix and IplusF, who will analyse issues related to network resilience, post-quantum cryptography, cyber threats and new European regulatory frameworks.

The event will also address the development of private 5G networks, technology validation and mission-critical environments, with companies such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Teltronic, Gsertel, APAVE and DEKRA, as well as real-world projects linked to connected mobility and advanced industry, including CIBERMOV, promoted by the Regional Government of Castile and León.

The academic and social dimensions of 5G will also play a leading role thanks to the participation of organisations such as the University of Málaga, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, IAVANTE, the University of Seville and the 6G SNS / SNS JU / CTTC consortium, which will present advances related to digital health, smart agriculture, advanced training and connected public services.

AI, edge computing and the leap towards 6G

The convergence of artificial intelligence, edge computing and 6G will be another major focus of the 5G Forum 2026. Companies such as Netmetrix and Templus will analyse how distributed data centres and edge computing are transforming real-time data processing, whilst firms such as OpenNebula, ManageEngine and Ayscom (alongside Apis and Keysight) will delve into the use of AI applied to autonomous networks, AIOps and advanced observability.

The application of artificial intelligence to business and urban environments will be represented by firms such as Orange Empresas, Nokia and Grupo Ximénez, which will showcase solutions linked to smart cities, smart lighting and immersive experiences based on XR and 6G.

In addition, the forum will focus on the future of connectivity, featuring leading experts and organisations such as Gradiant, Vicomtech, S&P Global Market Intelligence and the iTEAM at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, represented by Narcís Cardona, who will analyse the position of Spain and Europe in the global race towards 6G and deep tech technologies.

Satellites, infrastructure and technological sovereignty

Hybrid networks and satellite connectivity will also feature prominently, with contributions from Minsait by Indra Group, Mavenir, Hispasat and the EBU with its 5G EMERGE project, addressing the evolution towards NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) models, the integration of satellite 5G and European technological sovereignty.

In parallel, the event will bring together some of the leading companies involved in the deployment of infrastructure and connectivity, such as Cellnex, Axión, Totem, Vantage Towers, DigitalES, Asteo Red Neutra, CIRCET and SAPEC, who will analyse the challenges associated with the network backbone, infrastructure resilience and the exponential growth of data traffic.

Axión will present its exhibition area during its participation in the 7th edition of the 5G Forum, to be held in May 2025.

The field of coverage, measurement and technology validation will also feature companies such as Andrew, VIAVI Solutions / Wavecontrol, Rohde & Schwarz and Anritsu, who will delve into issues related to indoor coverage, electromagnetic field measurement and network validation.

A day dedicated to female talent

The fourth and final day of the 5G Forum 2026 will be entirely dedicated to female talent in the technology and telecommunications sector. During this special session, leading women in the industry will share their professional experiences, reflect on the role of STEM careers and deliver inspirational messages aimed at the new generations of young people interested in building their future in the technology sector.

With this initiative, the 5G Forum reinforces one of the key commitments of Medina Media Events, which also organises events such as New Space & Solutions and the 4K HDR Summit, by championing female leadership and promoting a more diverse, inclusive and representative industry.

Exhibition area and exclusive networking

In addition to the presentations and panel discussions, the in-person sessions of the 5G Forum will feature a large exhibition area where attendees can enjoy live demonstrations and see first-hand the latest technological innovations presented by more than twenty exhibiting companies. Among them will be companies and organisations such as Orange Empresas, Telefónica, Vodafone, DIGI, Ayscom, VIAVI Solutions / Wavecontrol, Minsait by Indra Group, Teltronic, Axión, Gradiant, ManageEngine, the University of Málaga, Nokia, Italtel, Gsertel, Neutroon, Rohde & Schwarz, SAPEC, Ethon Shield, Anritsu and Secmotic, creating a space dedicated to showcasing real-world applications, advanced solutions and technologies that are already transforming the digital ecosystem.
