What will be left for humans in 5G and 6G connectivity?

23/03/2022

The opening day of the 5G Forum 2022 will feature a report-reflection by professor Narcís Cardona. Professor Cardona will delve into the usefulness that 5G connectivity will have for humans and 6G, two technologies that far exceed the reaction time of our five senses. This first day of the 5G Forum 2022 will be held on May 9 at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Sevilla, FIBES.

Narcís Cardona is one of the leading experts on 5G and 6G in Spain, and during his presentation he will analyze what remains to be done in 5G and the road to 6G,with strengths that machines and humans can take advantage of in different ways.

“The 5G network is faster than human senses. This allows us to capture information faster, transmit and act with less latency (delay), facilitating remote control services for machines, vehicles and robots. Then, what is left for humans?” asks Cardona, who since 2016 has been the Director of the iTeAM Research Institute, at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).

The answers to this and other questions will be offered by Cardona to the participants in the 5G Forum 2022.This is the most important specific and multidisciplinary event on 5G in Spain, which 5th edition is celebrated under the slogan “Seville, where the leaders of 5G meet”.

As a preview of his participation in the 5G Forum in Seville, Professor Cardona considers: “Throughout 2022 we will see how network operators activate the full version of 5G. Also, he believes that the numerous use cases that have been demonstrated in the dozens of 5G pilots carried out in Spain, in many different sectors, will become commercial applications in industry, agriculture, transportation, automotive and the Internet of things, among others”.

The first day of the 5G Forum, on Monday, May 9, will be face-to-face and will take place at Fibes, the Seville Conference and Exhibition Center. It will be chaired by the Mayor of Seville, Antonio Muñoz, together with the General Director of Telecommunications and Management of Audiovisual Communication Services at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Arturo Azcorra. From the 10th to the 13th of May (Tuesday to Friday), the conference will be virtual, through the virtual platform created by Medina Media Events.
