ORANGE, TELEFÓNICA AND VODAFONE WILL ONCE AGAIN BE PROTAGONISTS IN THE ‘5G FORUM 23’.

13/04/2023
  • The three major operators will be present at the sixth edition of the ‘5G Forum’, which will be held from May 8 to 12 in Seville.
  • Javier Olveira, Presales Director at Orange Spain, will be the French company’s speaker and will talk about private networks in 5G.
  • Telefónica will be represented by Leonor Ostos, Innovation Manager, and Juan Cambeiro, 5G Customer Innovation at the Spanish multinational.
  • Vodafone will have two female speakers: Fini Irles, Head of Network Engineering at Vodafone Spain, and Irene Velasco, Senior Open RAN engineer at Vodafone.

Spain’s main telecoms and their executives will not miss the big annual event with 5G and 6G technology at the ‘5G Forum 23’. This sixth edition will be attended, as every year, by Orange, Telefónica and Vodafone, who will present their main challenges in the main multidisciplinary and specific event on 5G in Spain. The date, from May 8 to 12. And the place, Seville.

Once again this year, the Seville Conference and Exhibition Center (FIBES) will be the venue for the sixth edition of the 5GForum, whose agenda includes two face-to-face and three virtual sessions. The timing of this annual event coincides with the merger process of Orange and Más Móvil, the resulting 5G frequency sharing in Spain and the decisive World Radiocommunications Conference in November in the United Arab Emirates.

Orange and the world of Metaverse

The French multinational has appointed Javier Olveira, Presales Director at Orange Spain, to explain the different private networks that exist today in 5G. Olveira has a long history in the world of telecommunications, with more than 15 years of experience at Orange.

In the virtual days, Orange will also offer an interesting panel in which he will raise the importance of the Metaverse and why companies and multinationals enter this world; in addition to the future of this technology.

Orange will also make an interesting display in the Demo Zone of the Palacio de Congresos de Sevilla, where attendees will be able to live experiences in the Metaverse.

Telefónica’s StandAlone and Millimetrics

Telefónica will also be present with two presentations. The first will be given by Leonor Ostos, Innovation Manager, who will analyse the present and future of 5G and its impact on digital transformation.

Juan Cambeiro, Head of 5G Customer Innovation, will also discuss the future of 5G with StandAlone and Millimetrics, from the customer’s perspective.

After several years of introduction to 5G, 2023 will be the year of transition to 5G StandAlone or “pure 5G”, where the most extreme features of 5G will progressively become available, such as Network Slicing and ultra-reliable networks. In combination with this, the deployment of the millimeter frequency band will make multi-Gbps bandwidths possible. During the presentation, we will see several use cases realized with customers already relying on these new functionalities, and we will understand why this new 5G will be totally different from everything we know.

The Open Ran, protagonist thanks to Vodafone

On behalf of Vodafone, two women will represent the British company: Fini Irles, Head of Network Engineering at Vodafone Spain, and Irene Velasco, Senior Open RAN Engineer at Vodafone. Both will be present at the virtual conference.

Fini Irles is an engineer with 20 years of experience in strategic planning, design, deployment and support of telecommunications networks, budget and project management, as well as the provision of new technologies and services in cooperation with IT and business units in multinational companies.

For her part, Irene Velasco will focus on the Open RAN: the future (and even already the present) of mobile networks. With a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Seville, Irene Velasco has more than 10 years of experience working in mobile networks, from radio optimization and planning to network architecture and strategy. She is currently focused on Open RAN, defining the future of mobile networks, and is specialized in open source software applied to 5G.

The ‘5G Forum’ has become a unique opportunity to showcase the successes of each initiative, each company, each university, each project and each city, in an event of international reference and with a first-class professional and media showcase.

The sixth edition of the 5G Forum, organised by Medina Media Events, is promoted by Sevilla City Office and Fibes, and is supported by Orange, Telefónica, Viavi Solutions, Ericsson, Capgemini Engineering, Rohde & Schwarz, Minsait, Netmetrix, OFG, ZTE, Huawei, Vantage Towers, Vodafone, Nokia, Gsertel, Hispasat, Axión and Impulsa Visión RTVE.
