SEAT heads the group of companies and experts in connected mobility that will meet on 25th and 26th April in Malaga

All the possibilities opened up by the 5G to the automobile industry and connected mobility will be examined at the 5GForum, which will be held on 25th and 26th April at the Digital Content Hub in Malaga, in the first multidisciplinary forum held in Spain on this new technology.

Anna Martínez, head of connectivity and online services at SEAT, will be the main speaker of the block of conferences and demonstrations dedicated to the automobile industry at the 5GForum, which in 2017 reached 2.8 million units manufactured in Spain.

According to Anna Martínez, in the future the vehicles will be “smartphones with wheels”, and the degree of connectivity of the cars with the environment will be much higher than it exists today.

In addition to SEAT, the Spanish Association of Connected Autonomous Vehicles (AEVAC), represented by its president Aitor Fernández, will be present at the 5GForum.

A few months ago the AEVAC held a conference in Madrid on the impact of the autonomous vehicle in our society, with the aim of addressing the great challenge of mobility in the twenty-first century. Fernández will communicate the conclusions of this conference to the attendees of the 5GForum.

“The connected autonomous vehicle is going to become the largest technology aggregator seen to date”, in Fernández’s opinion.

The Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia (CTAG) will give with its presence a practical dimension to connected mobility, taking to the 5GForum a prototype of connected vehicle in which attendees will be able to examine its performance.

The CTAG will explain in a practical way its advances in the 5GCAR consortium, a Horizon 2020 project led by Ericsson and integrated by 14 companies and knowledge centers, such as Nokia, Huawei, Orange, PSA Group, Volvo Cars, Bosch, among others.

The 5GForum will offer lectures, round tables and demonstrations on the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Smart Cities, Connected Automobiles, Tourism, 5G Deployment, University Projects, Health and Telemedicine and Emergency Services. Attendance at the 5GForum is limited to 250 people.

Samsung, Nokia, Cellnex, Hispasat, Axión, RTVE, Telefónica, Vodafone and Ericsson, among others, have already met in the Digital Content Pole of Malaga on 25 and 26 April to share in the 5GForum (www.5gforum.es) the progress and experiences that each is achieving.
