THE 5G FORUM BREAKS RECORDS IN ITS 2024 EDITION

  • The seventh edition of the 5G Forum, “Where 5G leaders meet”, kicks off tomorrow in Seville with record registration figures: more than 500 confirmed professionals and full capacity. The two face-to-face sessions will be held at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 May.

  • The three major operators, MASORANGE, Telefónica and Vodafone; the U.S. multinationals Viavi Solutions, Mavenir, Red Hat and Tesla; and the Asian giants Huawei and ZTE will be represented at this seventh edition.

  • Antonio Sanz, Minister of Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Regional Government of Andalusia, will inaugurate the 5G Forum 24, together with representatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, among other national, regional and local authorities.

  • Attendees of the two face-to-face days will be able to enjoy first-hand an exceptional demo area with smart cars, metaverse experiences and 5G robots, among others.

The 5G Forum 24, “Where 5G leaders meet” kicks off tomorrow, Monday, May 6, in Seville with record attendance figures. A total of 530 top-level professionals have confirmed their attendance for the seventh edition of one of the benchmark events in 5G technology in Spain.

The Nissan Cartuja Auditorium, located in the PCT Cartuja, will have a full capacity during the first two days -Monday May 6 and Tuesday May 7- and about 300 professionals will join remotely to follow the event via streaming from May 6 to 10 -May 8, 9 and 10 exclusively in online format-.

The Americas, Asia and Europe at the 5G Forum

Once again, the 5G Forum will be a meeting point for multinationals from different continents. There will be representatives from North American and Asian multinationals such as Viavi Solutions, Mavenir, Red Hat and Tesla, which will present their latest advances in 5G technology, or two of the world’s leading technology companies such as Huawei and ZTE, which will explore with attendees the new horizons of 5G networks, AI and cybersecurity, among others.

The three main operators in Spain (MASORANGE, Telefónica and Vodafone) will not miss their annual appointment with the 5G Forum and will talk about their latest advances in 5G technology. On MASORANGE‘s side, Miguel Ángel Victoria, Head of IoT B2B, and Angélica Sánchez, Business and Marketing Director at Orange, will explain the advantages of this technology in both the residential and business markets.

Telefónica will be present with a session with the participation of Juan Cambeiro, Head of 5G customer projects, and Ángel Álamo, Head of LAN and 5G Marketing, which will review the present and future of “one of the most transformative technologies that have been deployed in recent years”. David Artuñedo, Head of Future Networks Lab at Telefónica, will also give a presentation on the Future Networks Lab projects in Andalusia. On behalf of Vodafone, César Antón, Network as a Platform Design and Development Manager at Vodafone Business, will address the standardization of API networks.

Likewise, the national accent will be very marked with the presence of 12 Spanish entities and organizations (Netmetrix, OFG, Vicomtech, Wavecontrol, Axion, University of Malaga Gradiant, Hispasat, Gsertel, AI Funded, Opossum and Gamma Solutions) that, as benchmarks in 5G, will tell the latest advances in this technology showing the way to 6G.

Institutional presence at the ‘5G Forum 24’.

The seventh edition of the 5G Forum will be attended by important representatives of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, such as Antonio Fernández-Paniagua, Deputy Director General of Radio Spectrum Planning and Management; and Julia Criado, deputy head of the Radio Spectrum Planning and Management Subdirectorate.

The presentation of the new ‘5G Map of Spain in 2024’ will be one of the main attractions of the 5G Forum 24 and will be given by Julia Criado, who will describe the current situation of 5G connectivity in Spain, as well as the scenario in which the frequency bands for 5G are located and the future challenges for both 5G and the ambitious 6G.

For its part, the Andalusian Regional Government did not want to miss the event either and this seventh edition will be inaugurated by Antonio Sanz, Minister of Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Andalusian Regional Government. He will also be accompanied by the director of ADA, Raúl Jiménez, the General Director of Research Planning of the Department of University, Research and Innovation of the Andalusian Regional Government, Loreto del Valle Cebada, and the General Director for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Continuing Education of the Department of University, Research and Innovation of the Andalusian Regional Government, Francisco Javier González Navarro. In addition, Luis Pérez, General Manager of the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, will act as host to welcome all attendees.

Exceptional demonstration area

On the first two days at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium (Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7), attendees will be able to enjoy first-hand an exceptional demonstration area with smart cars, metaverse experiences and 5G robots, among others.

MASORANGE, Telefónica, Red Hat, University of Málaga, Nokia, Opossum, Aifunded, Rohde & Schwarz, Viavi Solutions, Gradiant, Axión, Secmotic, Wavecontrol, UHD Spain and Tesla, among others, will be present in the demo area.

The University of Malaga, UMA, will present a 5G-controlled robot dog, as well as a virtual reality experience, and even a satellite call with the Spanish Space Agency.

The Finnish multinational Nokia will carry out two demonstrations. On the one hand, ‘COMODIA’, a training application in which the trainee will use Distributed Reality technology to learn how to extinguish a fire using a real fire extinguisher. On the other hand, ‘5GNaCAR’, which will show in a practical way the monitoring and advanced management capabilities of a 5G network through the Network as Code interface.

The Spanish multinational Telefónica celebrates its 100th anniversary with two other demonstrations. On the one hand, the ‘NaaS-6G Project, which will present live exposure of predictive and real-time analytics of the 5G network via NWDAF. On the other hand, the ‘6G-SANDBOX, 6G-PATH and FIDAL’ projects, which will be shown with 6G use cases in Andalusia.

MASORANGE will present how 5G+ technology can be used to prevent fires, while Rohde & Schwarz will share 5G private network quality measurements. On the other hand, Viavi Solutions will offer end-to-end solutions for testing, optimizing and automating wireless networks and Axion will unveil the different uses of 5G in the telecommunications and indoor coverage sector.

The Galician company Gradiant will show how, through a graphical interface, it is possible to send orders to a drone and stream video in real time, while Opossum will make it possible, through virtual reality streaming, to interact immersively with heritage assets of the past. Aifunded, meanwhile, will show the implementation of chatbots based on natural language processing in 5G networks.

UHD Spain will showcase its pioneering test of broadcasting a live concert in UHD via 5G, while the company Tesla will allow attendees to enjoy an inside look at a smart car, in addition to being able to drive it on a closed circuit.

The 5G Forum has established itself as a reference forum in the technology sector, as it is a unique showcase with a multidisciplinary vocation to publicize each year the use cases and success stories of operators, companies, universities and institutions.
