Seville will become the epicentre of 5G and 6G technology from 12 to 16 May with the celebration of the eighth edition of the 5G Forum, an event already consolidated as a benchmark for 5G and 6G in Spain and Europe. The Cartuja Auditorium -managed by Yventu-, located in the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, will host the three face-to-face sessions (Monday 12, Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14), while on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 the two virtual sessions will be held in online format.

Among the extensive list of participants from the nearly 60 entities that will meet in Seville is Meinrad Spenger, CEO of MasOrange, who will be the ‘Speaker of Honour’ at the eighth edition of the 5G Forum.

During the opening day, Meinrad Spenger will share his thoughts on the potential of 5G technology and his company’s innovations, among other issues of interest, such as artificial intelligence. “We are the Spanish operator with the greatest capacity to extract the potential of AI thanks to the largest customer database in Spain and our advanced analytics,” says the CEO of MasOrange, who will also talk about new trends in his sector.

The new company, the result of the merger of Orange and MásMóvil, was launched just over a year ago and is currently the telecommunications operator with the largest number of customers in the Spanish market, with some 39 million broadband and mobile lines. In addition, it offers TV, insurance, energy, alarms, consumer finance, health, cybersecurity and cloud services for private and business customers.

MasOrange, committed to cybersecurity

In addition, MasOrange now has 90% coverage in Spain, which reinforces its commitment to extend access to this network throughout the country, regardless of location. The multinational generates an impact of 18,770 million euros and 100% of the energy used in its facilities is renewable.

Javier Olveira, Director of B2B Customer Engineering at MasOrange, will also participate during the opening day of the event and will talk about 5G in the enterprise in terms of operational efficiency and quality of service. Meanwhile, Gonzalo Temes, Director of Digital Solutions at MasOrange, will participate in the ‘Cyber Day’, a day dedicated to cybersecurity.

For her part, Leonor Ostos, Manager of Innovation and Strategic Projects at Telefónica, will be one of those women of reference in the sector who will send an inspiring message to girls and young women during the day dedicated to female talent. Today, she is an example, as have been other women throughout her career. She has a very clear message for the new generations: “Dare to dream of working in big companies, or in whatever you want. And, when the time comes, dare to do it, even if you are not entirely sure”.

DIGI, continuously reinventing itself

DIGI, an operator headquartered in Bucharest (Romania), will participate for the first time in the 5G Forum in Seville, thus joining the important list of participating operators. With extensive professional experience in the sector and more than a decade as a DIGI executive, Ismael Serrano maintains that “not everything has been invented” around 5G technology and that the market is constantly reinventing itself, which requires continuous attention to new market needs.

Among his major achievements during his tenure was the launch of the Pro-DIGI service, which offers speeds of up to 10 Gbps symmetrical using XGS-PON technology and WiFi 6 routers. This service has positioned DIGI as the first operator in Spain to offer such high-speed residential fibre.
