Europe is in a contrasting situation. On the one hand, it has achieved solid technological progress thanks to public-private collaboration. On the other hand, it still faces an uneven deployment, with a lack of cohesion and leadership vis-à-vis powers such as the United States and China. Despite this, the continent continues to take steps towards a profound digital transformation.
In recent years, the European Commission has set new strategic targets for 5G deployment in the Digital Decade as a basis for a digital and green recovery after the COVID-19 crisis. The target is ambitious, aiming to ensure that all European households are covered by a Gigabit network by 2030, with all populated areas covered by 5G.
The convergence of efforts between operators, research centres and technology manufacturers is vital to consolidate a secure, efficient and sustainable digital infrastructure throughout Europe. The 5G Forum, once again this year, will become a privileged showcase for some of the European benchmarks, which will participate in the eighth edition of this forum, already consolidated as one of the most important technological events in Spain and Europe on 5G and 6G technology.
Seville will become the epicentre of 5G and 6G technology from 12 to 16 May, bringing together leading operators and companies in the sector, such as the French operator Orange and the Romanian DIGI. Also present will be Finland’s Nokia, Germany’s Rohde & Schwarz, Belgium’s HPE Aruba Networking and the UK’s Keysight, together with Ayscom.
French operator Orange, a key player at the 5G Forum
Around 60 national and international organisations will take part in this technological event at which they will showcase the latest innovations and trends that are shaping the future of global connectivity. Orange, the French operator with a presence in Spain, will be taking part in particular. It will do so through MasOrange, the telecommunications giant set up in 2024 as a joint venture between Orange Spain and the MásMóvil Group. Meinrad Spenger, CEO of MasOrange, will be the ‘Speaker of Honour’ at the eighth edition of the 5G Forum. Among other topics of interest, he will share his thoughts on the potential of 5G technology and the innovations that his company has driven on the opening day.
Also on the opening day, Javier Olveira, Director of B2B Customer Engineering at MasOrange, will talk about the use of 5G in enterprises, focusing on operational efficiency and quality of service; while Gonzalo Temes, Director of Digital Solutions at MasOrange, will participate in the ‘Cyber Day’, a day dedicated to cybersecurity.
Angélica Sánchez, Portfolio Brand Director at MasOrange, will talk about Cybersecurity and explain how 5G allows you to offer the most advanced solutions and protect your clients and their operations; and Myriam Leal, KAM in the AAPP department at MasOrange, will be interviewed on the fifth and last day, in online format, dedicated to female talent in the technology industry.
From Europe to the heart of Andalusia
Leading companies from all over Europe will gather at the Cartuja Auditorium -managed by Yventu-, located in the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, to turn Seville into the epicentre of 5G and 6G technology. The Andalusian capital will be home to the main telephone operators with a presence in Spain. DIGI, an operator headquartered in Bucharest (Romania), will participate for the first time in the event, joining the other three major operators that have already been present in previous editions of the 5G Forum, such as MasOrange, Telefónica and Vodafone.
Jaime Ruiz, Director of Innovation at Nokia, will address the ‘Network as Code’ concept. For the Finnish multinational, this concept represents an extreme simplification of network capabilities. It aims to allow applications to dynamically modify the network to optimise both performance and user experience.
Germán Martín, Application Engineer at Rohde & Schwarz, will share some advances in Non-Terrestrial Cellular Communication. “In an increasingly interconnected world, satellite communication presents itself as a key solution for the expansion of mobile networks to areas where terrestrial installations are unfeasible or complicated,” says Germán Martín, who will address non-terrestrial network technologies and the challenges inherent in satellite communication.
Mariano Garcia, Pre-Sales Manager at HPE Aruba Networking, will discuss how 5G private networks and WiFi networks can be deployed in a complementary way in an enterprise to provide the best possible connectivity suited to its specific characteristics.
Rubén Gutiérrez de la Torre, Solutions Engineer at Keysight, will present the challenges and solutions of setting up, validating and operating a private 5G network in an edition that will also feature other major European companies such as Vodafone (UK), Ericsson (Sweden), Siemens (Germany) and Atos (France), as well as the European Broadcasting Union – EBU (Switzerland), the Global Mobile Suppliers Association and the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA).
All the conferences will be available for on-demand viewing through ‘El Observatorio’, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where each conference will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.
The eighth edition of the 5G Forum is organised by Medina Media Events and is supported by Orange, Telefónica, DIGI, Netmetrix, Huawei, ZTE, GMV, NTT DATA, HPE – Aruba Networking, Vicomtech, Gradiant, i2CAT, OpenNebula, Ayscom, Keysight, Teltronic, Datatronics, Oracle, Universidad de Málaga, Axión, Wavecontrol, Nokia, Rohde & Schwarz, Hispasat, Circet, Iplus|F, Dihbu, SAPEC, Gsertel, Kenmei, Ingenalia, AIFunded, Opossum, AEVAC and Secmotic, among others.
