As soon as the celebration of the 5G Forum 2022 in Seville, from May 9 to 13, was announced, the European Commission has confirmed its participation to offer the Spanish technology community an update on the European policy on 5G and present the new R+D strategy in 6G.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter Stuckmann, Head of the Unit for Future Connectivity Systems of the European Commission, will be in charge of presenting the recently created Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking to the participants of the 5G Forum 2022. He will present not only this project, but also its two strategic pillars: 6G research and innovation and 5G deployment actions funded by European or national financing programs. The public-private budget already committed to this community company is 2,000 million euros and establishes the necessary financial planning security to proceed with an ambitious R&D roadmap for 6G technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 5G Forum is the main specific and multidisciplinary event on 5G that is held in Spain. In this fifth edition, its agenda has been extended from three to five days, with a first face-to-face day at FIBES, the Seville Conference and Exhibition Center, and the remaining four days in virtual format.<\/span><\/p>\n

The inauguration of this fifth edition, under the slogan “Seville, where the leaders of 5G meet”, will be chaired by the Mayor of Seville, Antonio Mu\u00f1oz, together with the General Director of Telecommunications and Planning of Communication Services at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Arturo Azcorra.<\/span><\/p>\n

The international relevance that the 5G Forum has achieved in its four previous editions is evident by the participation of professionals from companies from 18 countries, including executive profiles such as CEO, CIO, CTO and directors of business innovation, product, strategy, marketing, as well as consultants and researchers.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Peter Stuckman:<\/b><\/p>\n

Peter Stuckmann is the Head of Unit \u2013 Future Connectivity Systems of DG CONNECT at the European Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter manages the Commission’s policy on 5G communication systems and the related research and innovation programme. In 2021 he has been designated Deputy Director for Future Networks, a portfolio that includes future connectivity, cloud and software, Internet policy and governance as well as the Internet of Things.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Last December he has been appointed Interim Executive Director of the newly established Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking, responsible to manage its office and implement its work programme until its autonomy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before his appointment to Head of Unit he was Head of Sector “Spectrum Policy”, was coordinating the Digital Single Market Strategy, the 2012 Roaming Regulation, and the EU R&D programme leading to the 4G mobile communications standards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before joining the European Commission in 2004 he has occupied several engineering and management positions in industry, academia and start-ups. He holds engineering and doctoral degrees from RWTH Aachen University, Germany and is author of the text book \u201cThe GSM Evolution\u201d (Wiley 2003).<\/span><\/p>\n

The 5G Forum is a privileged opportunity to publicize the successes of each initiative, each company, each university, each project and each city, in an event of international reference and with a first-class showcase. It is promoted by Sevilla City Office and Fibes. It also has the support of Telef\u00f3nica, Orange, American Tower, Viavi Solutions, Ericsson, Capgemini Engineering, Qualcomm, Mavenir, Rohde & Schwarz, Keysight Technologies, Netmetrix-Spirent, Huawei, ZTE, Malaga City Council, Digital Content Pole, Fycma , National 5G Observatory, Cellnex, Advantech, Ateme, TOTEM, Dekra, Televes, Hispasat, Nokia, JVC, Toshiba, Axi\u00f3n, Impulsa Vision RTVE and the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Andalusian Government.<\/span><\/p>\n
