companies analysed the major challenges facing the digital ecosystem: from infrastructure resilience and cybercrime to the evolution towards smart networks, edge computing and future 6G technologies.<\/strong>\n<p><strong>The event focused on the real impact of 5G on strategic sectors such as industry, healthcare, connected mobility, agriculture, smart cities and critical services, consolidating the 5G Forum as the leading platform for advanced connectivity applications in Spain.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The second day of the 9th edition of <strong>the 5G Forum<\/strong>, held at the Cartuja Auditorium \u2014managed by Yventu\u2014 at Sevilla TechPark, brought together some of the leading experts, operators, universities and technology companies from the digital ecosystem to analyse the present and future of<strong> 5G<\/strong>, <strong>cybersecurity<\/strong>, <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong>, <strong>private networks <\/strong>and the evolution towards<strong> 6G<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The event once again highlighted how advanced connectivity is becoming a critical infrastructure for sectors such as industry, healthcare, mobility, energy and public administration, in a context marked by the exponential growth of digital threats and the need to build increasingly resilient, intelligent and secure networks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cybersecurity and resilience: the great challenge of hyperconnectivity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the main themes of the conference was <strong>cybersecurity as it applies to the 5G ecosystem<\/strong>. <strong>Gabriel Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, Deputy Prosecutor for Cybercrime at the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office, warned of the sharp rise in digital crime linked to technological progress. <strong>\u201cThe growth of cybercrime over the last ten years has been absolutely exponential, increasing more than <\/strong>fivefold,\u201d he warned, further emphasising that <strong>\u201ccomputer scams and fraud are now the third most common crime in terms of the number of cases and victims in Spain, behind only assault and gender-based violence<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23384\" Deputy Prosecutor for Cybercrime at the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office, during his participation in the 9th edition of the 5G Forum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On the same topic, <strong>Antonio S\u00e1nchez-Maroto<\/strong>, Cybersecurity Business Development Manager at <strong>MasOrange<\/strong>, addressed the new risks associated with the hyper-connected industry and industrial 5G networks. \u201c<strong>In 5G industrial environments, passwords are no longer a secret: they are a vulnerability<\/strong>,\u201d he noted, whilst <strong>Roberto Lara<\/strong>, Head of the Cybersecurity Business Unit at <strong>Vodafone Business<\/strong>, highlighted how software-defined infrastructures are completely transforming the traditional security model. \u201c<strong>The traditional perimeter is disappearing<\/strong>,\u201d he stated, advocating for <strong>Zero Trust <\/strong>models and advanced segmentation to protect critical sectors such as industry, robotics and healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>The resilience and validation of critical infrastructure were also the focus of the presentation by <strong>Joel Zaragoza<\/strong>, CTIO and Head of Services at <strong>Netmetrix<\/strong>, who emphasised that <strong>\u201cno protection system is reliable until it has been tested under real-world conditions<\/strong>\u201d. The expert also warned of the growing impact of quantum computing and the need to prepare 5G infrastructure now to address future cryptographic risks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Fernando de la Cruz<\/strong>, Wireless Chief Solution Architect at <strong>Huawei<\/strong>, and <strong>Isa\u00edas Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, Senior Lecturer at the <strong>University of Le\u00f3n<\/strong>, advocated for <strong>\u201cshared <\/strong>responsibility\u201d models to protect private 5G networks, noting that <strong>\u201csecurity in 5G is not a static state, but an ongoing process<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Private networks, connected mobility and critical communications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second day also featured the presentation of <strong>CIBERMOV<\/strong>, the new urban laboratory for connected mobility and cybersecurity promoted by the <strong>Regional Government of Castile and Le\u00f3n<\/strong>, <strong>Renault Group Spain <\/strong>and <strong>MasOrange<\/strong>. Edge DC Director at <strong>Templus<\/strong>, highlighted the strategic role of <strong>Edge Data Centres <\/strong>in supporting the new AI-driven digital economy. <strong>\u201cInference is the moment when 5G and the Edge truly come into their own<\/strong>,\u201d he explained, advocating for low-latency distributed processing models.<\/p>\n<p>In the same vein, <strong>Joan Vives S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, Technical Consultant for Iberia at <strong>ManageEngine<\/strong>, argued that <strong>\u201cinformation technology is no longer merely a business enabler, but the very core of the <\/strong>business\u201d, advocating for unified observability platforms capable of anticipating incidents through artificial intelligence and machine learning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23420\" src=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Joan-Vives-4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Joan-Vives-4.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Joan-Vives-4-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Joan-Vives-4-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Joan-Vives-4-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Joan-Vives-4-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Joan Vives S\u00e1nchez, Technical Consultant Iberia at ManageEngine, during his participation in the 9th edition of the 5G Forum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Artificial intelligence applied to immersive experiences and smart networks was also the focus of the presentation by <strong>\u00c1lvaro Villegas<\/strong>, Director of <strong>Nokia\u2019s <\/strong>eXtended Reality Lab, who summed up this new technological era with a key idea: <strong>\u201cNetworks serve to connect intelligences<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, <strong>Francisco Ja\u00e9n Cubero<\/strong>, Corporate Director of Operations and R&amp;D&amp;I at <strong>Ximenez Group<\/strong>, demonstrated how 5G and AI are transforming cities and smart urban experiences. <strong>\u201cLighting is no longer simply installed: it is orchestrated<\/strong>,\u201d he stated, explaining how sensorisation and data analysis enable urban spaces to be transformed into connected environments that can be monitored in real time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>6G, technological sovereignty and applied research<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Future<strong> 6G<\/strong> technologies also played a prominent role during the conference. <strong>Jos\u00e9 Joaqu\u00edn Escudero<\/strong>, Head of Advanced Mobile Communications at <strong>Gradiant<\/strong>, presented advances in <strong>deep tech<\/strong>, artificial intelligence, integrated sensing, photonics and quantum technologies, arguing for the need to strengthen <strong>\u201cnational and European technological sovereignty<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the <strong>Polytechnic University of Valencia<\/strong>, <strong>Narc\u00eds Cardona <\/strong>emphasised that the challenge is no longer solely about research, but about turning knowledge into industrial leadership. <strong>\u201cIt is not enough to compete with one another; The analyst also pointed out that the major challenge today lies in <strong>\u201cmonetising 5G with services that generate real value<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health, agriculture and real-world applications of 5G<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The practical application of 5G in strategic sectors also featured prominently. <strong>Javier Rivas<\/strong>, an expert in mobile communications at the <strong>University of M\u00e1laga<\/strong>, presented European projects that combine<strong> 5G<\/strong>, drones, IoT and artificial intelligence to optimise irrigation and agricultural sustainability. <strong>\u201cResearch must be transferred to society and generate a real impact<\/strong>,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Javier-Rivas-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Javier-Rivas-2.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Javier-Rivas-2-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Javier-Rivas-2-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Javier-Rivas-2-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Javier-Rivas-2-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Javier Rivas, an expert in mobile communications at the University of M\u00e1laga, during his participation in the 9th edition of the 5G Forum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The impact of future 6G networks on the healthcare sector was addressed by <strong>Carles Ant\u00f3n-Haro<\/strong>, representative of <strong>CTTC <\/strong>and the European <strong>SNS<\/strong> initiative, who showcased real-world examples of remote surgery, connected rehabilitation, smart ambulances and advanced patient monitoring. <strong>\u201c6G technologies are not just a vision of the future, but technically viable and clinically useful solutions<\/strong>,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, <strong>Javier Sedano<\/strong>, Managing Director of <strong>the ITCL Technology Centre<\/strong>, highlighted the need to translate 5G into real and sustainable business solutions. <strong>\u201cWe must not seek global solutions, but rather solve specific problems<\/strong>,\u201d he argued, emphasising the importance of bringing private 5G networks closer to the reality of SMEs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Infrastructure, resilience and the future of telecommunications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The conference concluded with several panel discussions focusing on the strategic role of digital infrastructure and the resilience of telecommunications. During the debate moderated by <strong>Carmen Ortiz Pedraza<\/strong>, Director of the Conecta Digital Forum at <strong>DigitalES<\/strong>, participants agreed with that <strong>\u201cthe traditional model of one operator, one tower is no longer <\/strong>sustainable\u201d, advocating for infrastructure-sharing models to accelerate roll-outs and reduce the digital divide.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, at the roundtable moderated by <strong>Manuel Ortigosa Brun<\/strong>, Dean of <strong>COITAOC<\/strong>, lessons learnt following critical events such as the 2025 power cut or the DANA were analysed.
