Castilla y Le\u00f3n leads the so-called Node 1, alongside Andalusia and the Basque Country, focusing its specialisation on connected mobility and the automotive sector, one of the region\u2019s main industrial drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Over 22% of regional GDP is linked to the automotive and mobility sector<\/strong>,<strong>\u201d <\/strong>they highlighted during the panel, emphasising the strategic importance of an ecosystem that boasts five assembly plants, thousands of skilled jobs and a strong export capacity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23393 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-6-v2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-6-v2.jpg 678w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-6-v2-300x281.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Itz\u00edar Mart\u00edn Alonso, Head of the Digitalisation and Sustainability Department at the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y Le\u00f3n (ICECYL), during her participation in the 9th edition of the 5G Forum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A connected urban laboratory to validate the future of the smart vehicle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CIBERMOV was created as an open-air urban laboratory designed to develop, validate and test new safe connected mobility solutions prior to their commercial deployment. The circuit, deployed in the city of Valladolid, covers various real-world urban scenarios such as main avenues, city centres, ring roads, cycle lanes, junctions and underpasses, enabling the performance of the technologies to be assessed under real traffic conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Renault Group Spain highlighted the profound change currently taking place in the automotive sector, evolving from a model based solely on sensors and human perception towards an ecosystem where vehicles, infrastructure and users constantly exchange information in real time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>The vehicle will no longer just see its surroundings: it will be able to communicate with other vehicles, with the infrastructure and with pedestrians or cyclists<\/strong>,<strong>\u201d <\/strong>said Pablo Camblor during his speech, highlighting how this new generation of mobility opens up enormous opportunities, but also presents new technological and safety challenges.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-4.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-4-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-4-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-4-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-4-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Pablo Camblor, Head of Connected Mobility Projects at Renault Group Spain, during his participation in the 9th edition of the 5G Forum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The project integrates advanced technologies such as smart cameras, radars, LED screens, sensors, connected vehicles and edge computing servers, enabling the development of use cases linked to cooperative perception between vehicles, detection of vulnerable road users, intelligent speed control, advanced car park management and safety in school environments.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Private 5G networks and smart communications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the key elements of the project is the communications infrastructure developed by MasOrange, which acts as <strong>the \u201ctechnological backbone\u201d <\/strong>of the experimental environment. CIBERMOV incorporates a private 5G network deployed specifically for the circuit, combining 3.5 GHz and 700 MHz frequencies to ensure both capacity and coverage.<\/p>\n<p>The architecture also integrates advanced capabilities such as network slicing, traffic prioritisation and local edge computing, allowing network resources to be reserved for critical connected mobility applications and reducing real-time latency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Mechanisms have been developed that are even capable of freeing up resources from non-priority users to guarantee critical real-time communications<\/strong>,<strong>\u201d <\/strong>explained Francisco L\u00f3pez Conde.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23395 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-2-v2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"487\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-2-v2.jpg 487w, https:\/\/www.5gforum.es\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Panel-Cibermovi-2-v2-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 487px) 100vw, 487px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Francisco L\u00f3pez Conde, Public Sector Pre-Sales Manager at MasOrange, during his participation in the 9th edition of the 5G Forum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The infrastructure also incorporates an MQTT platform developed by Orange, capable of acting as an intelligent intermediary to distribute only the relevant information to each connected vehicle or system, thereby optimising communications performance.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, CIBERMOV integrates Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies, including both ITS-G5 and C-V2X, which enable direct communications between vehicles, infrastructure and other road users.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cybersecurity, the cornerstone of the project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cybersecurity is one of the fundamental pillars of CIBERMOV. The project incorporates specific PKI infrastructures, advanced context-based anomaly detection systems, continuous monitoring, advanced attack simulation exercises (red teaming) and techniques aimed at ensuring secure communications within the connected ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>The entire ecosystem has been designed with cybersecurity as a cross-cutting element<\/strong>,<strong>\u201d <\/strong>noted the project leaders, emphasising the need to validate these types of technologies before their future widespread deployment in smart cities and transport networks.<\/p>\n<p>The participants also agreed in highlighting the pioneering nature of the initiative, which will make Valladolid the first open urban circuit for connected mobility and cybersecurity of this kind in Spain and one of the first in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>CIBERMOV is currently finalising its implementation and validation phase and is now entering the technology demonstration stage, which will run until September 2026. Subsequently, Valladolid City Council will take over the management of the environment with the aim of consolidating it as a permanent innovation platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Valladolid thus becomes a leading urban laboratory for validating the future of safe connected mobility<\/strong>,<strong>\u201d <\/strong>they concluded during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The 9th edition of the 5G Forum is taking place from 12 to 15 May at the Cartuja Auditorium \u2014managed by Yventu\u2014 in Sevilla TechPark, bringing together operators, technology companies, institutions and national and international experts to analyse the present and future of advanced connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>All the conferences from <strong>the 5G Forum <\/strong>will be available to view on demand via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewtechobservatory.com\/inicio.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Observatory<\/strong><\/a>, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where each conference will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>ninth edition of the 5G Forum <\/strong>is organised by Medina Media Events and is supported by Orange Empresas, Telef\u00f3nica, Vodafone, DIGI, Huawei, Netmetrix, the Regional Government of Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Ayscom, Wavecontrol\/Viavi Solutions, Minsait by Indra Group, Teltronic, Axi\u00f3n, Gradiant, Mavenir, HPE, Manage Engine, Asteo Red Neutra, the University of M\u00e1laga, Nokia, Andrew, Italtel, Gsertel, Neutroon, Templus, IplusF, Hispasat, Rohde &amp;
