THE ROLE OF 5G, KEY TO ECONOMIC RECOVERY

21/04/2020

The head of the 5G National Observatory (ON5G), Federico Ruiz, believes that “5G will be key to economic recovery after the crisis. Telecommunications are key now and will also be key in a gradual recovery”.

Ruiz will present his report on the state of 5G in Spain on the opening day of the third edition of the 5G Forum, which will be held completely virtually on 6th and 7th May and will bring together experts, companies, multinationals and public bodies specialising in 5G, including the 5G National Observatory (ON5G).

“It is a moment of transition for our country in which mobility is already playing a very important role in how we change the crisis”, advances Ruiz.

The 5G National Observatory is an initiative promoted by Mobile World Capital, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and Red.es. Its activity is based on verticals such as smart cities, industry, entertainment, emergencies and public health, but health and entertainment are becoming increasingly important.

“If we are seeing in these times how connectivity and social networks are important to break the isolation and continue with the activity, with 5G we will see that this will move to a new type of social network, a new type of connectivity with which we will be able to erase the distance and time in a more powerful”, predicts the director of ON5G.

Virtual 5G Forum 2020 is the main event on 5G technology in Spain and it will present the latest advances from professionals and large companies such as Samsung, Vodafone Business, Cisco, 5Genesis, Intracom Telecom, Huawei, Hispasat, Impulsa Visión RTVE, Nokia, Axión and the National 5G Observatory, an initiative promoted by Mobile World Capital, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and Red.es, sponsors of the event.
